Cases on the phone
What an enumerator sees under Manage cases in Joripo Collect, opening a case's form, and working offline.
Joripo documentation · https://joripo.com/docs/case-management/cases-on-the-phone
In Joripo Collect, a workspace that has a case list shows Manage cases on the home screen.
The case list
- Search matches a case's label and ID.
- My cases / All cases: my cases are those whose
usersnames the person signed in. The list opens on My cases when there are any. - The cases are ordered by
sortby, then by label, with the number shown and when the list last changed. - Each case has a button for every form it opens that is on the phone. A form not yet downloaded is named, with a hint to download it.
- Chips show what this phone holds for each case: Draft, Waiting to send, Not sent and Sent today.
- A case whose
statuscolumn saysclosedis hidden until Show closed cases is ticked; the count says how many are hidden. - Details shows a case's other columns.
Opening a case
Opening a case opens its form with the case's ID in the form's caseid field and the case's label on the form screen. A draft started from a case keeps the case, and on the home screen the draft and the finalized form show "Case: <label>".
When a case is opened, the phone tells the server it is in progress, so another enumerator's phone shows it as taken; the claim lasts a day and is renewed by opening it again. A case already completed in the current round, or claimed by someone else, says so and by whom.
Offline
The case list is downloaded with the form list (when the app opens, and on Sync), and an unchanged list costs almost nothing to check. Offline, the phone uses the last list it received, and opening a case does not wait for the server. The phone hides a case as soon as it holds a finalized interview for that case, form and round, so it cannot be done twice on that phone.
If two phones complete the same case in the same round, the first interview the server receives completes it; the second is kept, flagged as a duplicate and sent to Needs review on the Cases page. A claim never stops a submission: data that reaches the server is always kept.
The phone never changes a case
Cases change only on the server: from uploads, from the mapped answers of submitted forms, and from what a manager does on the Cases page. Notes written about a case on the server are not shown to enumerators.
Not on the phone
There is no table view or per-column filter on the phone (the console has both), and cases cannot be handed from one phone to another directly: give them to someone else on the Cases page instead.
